 2016 Preview 


       Charles Henderson completed the 2015 season with a 5-6 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 5A region two, the Trojans earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Charles Henderson's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Demopolis by a score of 48-13.

       Charles Henderson took a step backwards last year with their first losing season since 2006.

       Since 2010, Charles Henderson has gone a combined 48-26. Their 65.0% winning percentage ranks 14th in Class 5A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Charles Henderson has managed to compile a record of 164-113. Their 59.0% winning percentage ranks 15th in Class 5A and 98th in the AHSAA.

       The Trojans are led by head coach Brad McCoy who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 13-10 over the past two seasons at Charles Henderson. Under his direction the Trojans have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach McCoy.

       Coach McCoy's overall record as a head football coach in seven season stands at 47-29 (61.8%). Over the course of his career, Coach McCoy's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times and won two region championships.

       The Charles Henderson Trojans will play in Class 5A region two during the 2016 season.

       The Trojans should be in contention for a playoff spot in region two this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. They have reached the playoffs every year since 2009 and will once again be in the hunt for a spot in 2016.

      Quarterback Noah Lowery returns for his junior season after throwing for 1,150 yards and 15 touchdowns as a sophomore last season.

       The Trojans open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent UMS-Wright on Friday, August 26 at Memorial Stadium. Last year the UMS-Wright Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 12-1 and in first place in Class 4A region one. The Bulldogs lost in the quarter-finals round of the Class 4A playoffs to Leeds by a score of 33-0.

       Charles Henderson and UMS-Wright have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Trojans have a 2-2-0 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 2013 with Charles Henderson winning by a score of 38-36.
